Every one of us carries something unseen. Emotional Baggage is my interpretation of the memories, experiences, disappointments, and triumphs that quietly shape who we become. Some of those burdens weigh us down, while others become the very foundation of our strength.

I created this painting using a palette knife and thick layers of oil paint, allowing each mark to build upon the last without trying to erase what came before. The textured surface reflects the way life accumulates over time—every layer representing another chapter, another lesson, another emotion that can never be completely separated from the whole.

The bold turquoise forms emerge from deep reds, blacks, and soft flesh tones like moments of clarity breaking through emotional complexity. I intentionally left areas raw, imperfect, and unresolved because healing is rarely a straight line. Instead, it is a continual process of carrying, accepting, and transforming our past into something meaningful.

For me, Emotional Baggage is not about the weight we carry—it is about our remarkable ability to keep moving forward despite it. I hope this piece encourages viewers to see their own experiences not as burdens to hide, but as the layers that have shaped their resilience, their character, and ultimately, their story.
